North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has ordered the continuous enhancement of the military technical power of his country's army. The Korean Central News Agency reported that leader Kim Jong Un held an expanded meeting of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea from June 21 to 23, during which participants summarized the work of the army and armed forces, and developed practical measures to strengthen the military power of the army.
On the third day of this meeting, Kim Jong Un delivered a closing speech on the fundamental principles that must be followed in all military and political activities, commanding the strengthening of the military power of North Korea.
A statement from the news agency said, "The General Secretary (Kim Jong Un) stated that the current struggle, during which it will be necessary to overcome a severe testing period for the revolution with a firm will and resolutely, requires the consistent maintenance and continuous improvement of the absolute power and military technical power of the Korean People's Army, which is the basis for protecting the revolution and the homeland."
It was also reported that the third day of the meeting saw the election of Lee Byung-chul, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, as Deputy Chair of the Central Committee for Elections. The agenda of the meeting included summarizing the work of law enforcement agencies and the Central Election Commission in the first half of the year, setting new tasks, organizational issues, and evaluating the activities of leaders of the headquarters, political departments in the Ministry of Defense, General Staff, and the Korean People's Army, among others.
