A wave of anger spread among several Egyptian artists due to claims about their attendance at a wedding just hours after the death of Egyptian artist Samir Ghanem. They participated in his burial in the morning and then were present at the wedding in the evening. A video circulated showing Yusra with Amr Diab during the wedding celebration, while a photo appeared of Elham Shahin, Laila Elwi, and several other friends.
According to "Al Arabiya.net," Elham Shahin clarified her position, stating that she did not attend any wedding, either in El Gouna or Cairo, emphasizing that the circulating photo of her was taken in El Gouna just one day before Samir Ghanem's death. She was there with a group of friends, and upon learning the next day of Samir Ghanem’s passing, she, along with Laila Elwi and Hala Sedky, returned to attend the funeral, especially since Samir Ghanem was a dear friend with a special place in their hearts.
Elham Shahin rejected the accusations directed at her by social media users, noting that no one has the right to judge her feelings for a colleague, given her deeply rooted friendship with the late artist and his wife, Dalal Abdel Aziz, who is currently hospitalized. She asserted that no one can state whether she is sad or not about the loss of one of her colleagues, especially amid the standards imposed by social media today.
