Syrian director Joud Said stated that the series "Autumn of Lovers," which he is currently directing, is a television narrative that captures the lives of a group of couples during the 1970s, 1980s, and early 1990s, set against a social and political backdrop.
The scenes of the work reflect the political events affecting the couples' lives and their interactions with these changes, as well as how their destinies were altered during these three time periods. Said emphasized that this work differs from others he has produced previously, as it presents this historical period for the first time. He noted that the nature of the narrative written by journalist Diana Jabour is very compelling and offers an insightful reading of the lives of Syrians during that era. Joud Said had begun filming "The Journey of Youssef" in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the continuation of the work. He indicated that filming will resume in the middle of next year.
