Member of the "Northern Deputies" meeting, Ahmad Al-Khair, noted in a conversation with "Anbaa" electronic news that he and his colleagues are still in the process of consultations among themselves and have not yet reached a unified decision. He revealed that, apart from discussing names, they are not distant from President Najib Mikati or any other capable person responsible for the role. The issue, for him, relates to the mindset of those responsible for forming the government, questioning whether it will change or remain the same. From his perspective, names and titles are not important. He asked, "Does everyone realize the scale of the crisis aside from the existing disagreements among them? Is everyone determined to cooperate for the country's benefit without external interference and impositions? What matters to us is our people and our community because our situation is very difficult, and the country has become on the brink of collapse."
In this context, MP Bilal Al-Hachimi disclosed an upcoming meeting on Monday with his independent colleagues, suggesting in a call with "Anbaa" that the trend leans towards naming President Mikati as the most suitable candidate at present "because it is not possible to name someone lacking experience in this short period." He added, "Things might become easier after the presidential election since only four months remain. What can someone lacking experience do in a caretaker government with an entrusted president, leading to chaos and scattered responsibilities?" hinting at the possibility of replacing some ministers in the current government, suggesting a swap of 5 to 6 ministers with new faces.
Hachimi stated, "Among the names being discussed, Mikati remains the most favored." He questioned, "How will Mikati resolve the impasse with Gibran Bassil, who has begun imposing conditions to win certain key portfolios? Will Mikati submit to these conditions, and how will he handle them?" He called for not prolonging the matter and urged for the formation of a government sooner rather than later to save the collapsing economic situation.
