The national basketball team achieved a deserved victory over its Jordanian counterpart with a four-point margin, concluding the match with a score of "85-81." The game took place today, Tuesday, at Al-Nasr Club’s hall, marking the opening of the first group matches in the 24th edition of the Arab Men's National Teams Championship, held in Dubai until February 16. Seven Arab teams are competing for the title.
The UAE team succeeded by relying on zone defense and quick counterattacks to surprise the Jordanians, leading to a six-point advantage by the end of the first half. The players from the UAE managed to take the lead in the first two quarters with scores of "27-26" and "20-15."
As the second half began, the "Lions of Jordan" attempted to close the gap, managing to tie the game with a score of "22-22" in the third quarter, and then winning the fourth quarter "18-16," which was not enough for the Jordanians to turn the match around.
The standout player for the UAE was Rashid Nasser, who earned the title of the game’s best scorer with 22 points, while the best scorer for the Jordanian team was Amin Ismail, with 20 points.
