The famous video of the "Baby Shark" song has become the first video to surpass 10 billion views in the history of YouTube, according to the company that produced the song on Thursday. Pinkfong stated that the video achieved this milestone around 4 PM today, adding that it is the first video in the world to exceed 10 billion views. The gap between this video and the next, which is the "Despacito" music video with 7.7 billion views, has widened.
The song was released in June 2016 as part of Pinkfong's children's song series and became a global phenomenon due to its catchy tune and lyrics. The music video set a new record in the Guinness World Records as the most viewed video on YouTube when it reached 7 billion views in November 2020, maintaining its position at the top for 15 consecutive months.
The song ranked 32 on the Billboard Hot 100 and 6 on the UK official chart in 2019. The company noted that 10 billion views is a colossal number, surpassing the world population of 7.8 billion, as reported by the United Nations Population Fund. This figure means that every person living on Earth has watched the video at least once.
