After Winning Wimbledon Title, Rybakina Misses Opportunity to Improve Her World Ranking

Despite the Kazakh player Elena Rybakina winning the Wimbledon title, the third of the four Grand Slam tournaments, for the first time in her career, this did not affect her position in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings. No ranking points were awarded at Wimbledon this season due to sanctions imposed by the WTA and the ATP against the British Tennis Association and the Wimbledon organizers for not allowing Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in the tournament. Rybakina remained at the 23rd position in the WTA rankings, according to Vesti.kz.

Rybakina defeated Tunisia's Ons Jabeur, who is ranked second in the world, in a match that ended with sets of 6-3, 2-6, and 2-6, lasting one hour and 43 minutes. Jabeur fell from second to fifth place in the world rankings. Elena Rybakina represented Russia until 2018 before changing her sporting nationality to compete for Kazakhstan.
