Former Scottish star Frank Macavenny revealed the reasons behind Egyptian star Mohamed Salah's delay in renewing his contract with Liverpool until now. Macavenny stated in exclusive comments reported by "Football Insider": "I don’t think Jurgen Klopp's contract renewal with Liverpool will make a significant difference in this matter; perhaps there are other reasons contributing to the uncertainty surrounding Salah's future with his English club."
He added, "In the past, there were rumors about Salah's desire to move to Real Madrid; they may have started as just rumors, but with Salah's delay in renewing his contract with Liverpool, these rumors are gradually turning into facts."
The Scotsman continued, "Salah previously said that his contract renewal is not just about money, and if that weren't the case, why hasn't he renewed? Certainly, Liverpool has offered him a lot of money, but there is another reason: Salah may have already decided to move to Real Madrid."
Macavenny concluded his remarks by saying: "Real Madrid is the best club in history; many players, including Salah, dream of playing there, and if he decides to leave, Klopp's contract renewal won't make any difference to Salah's future."
It is noteworthy that Mohamed Salah has been awarded the title of Best Player in the Premier League and currently leads the scoring charts for the current season with 22 goals scored in 31 matches, along with 13 assists.
