Saudi authorities have temporarily closed 12 mosques after detecting COVID-19 infections among worshippers. This brings the total number of mosques closed over the past 87 days to 1,030, with 1,001 of those reopened after sanitation and preparation. According to the Saudi Press Agency "SPA," the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Call and Guidance announced the temporary closure of 12 mosques in 6 regions after confirming 12 cases of COVID-19 among worshippers. The report stated that the closed mosques include three in the Al-Baha region, three in the Al-Jouf region, two in the Makkah region, two in the Riyadh region, one in the Qassim region, and one in the Jazan region.
