After the music band "Sal La" in Iran released a video clip featuring several young women and men playing a piece under the direction of musician and music teacher Payman Yousofi in the city of Dezful, the city's police chief announced the summoning of the participants within 24 hours following the release of the video and the filing of a case against them. The clip shows several female guitarists alongside their male counterparts, all wearing hijabs while maintaining social distancing.
In a statement to the media, Ruhollah Garavandi, the police chief of Dezful, said: "The members of this band have been identified and summoned in less than 24 hours, as we will not allow the image and reputation of Dezful to be distorted."
The home where the clip was filmed has also come under scrutiny, with the police chief stating that the homeowner was summoned as well. An Iranian website commented that such actions by the Iranian police are a severe blow to the body of art and music in Iran. It is noted that in this video, the band performed the song "Ayonak" by artist Asef Arya.
