What’s New in Government Deliberations?

While procrastination continues with government demands and impossible proposals, information suggests that the latest deliberations involve revisiting the proposal of forming a government from the current ministers as a way out of the crisis. This comes at a time when the dispute between Ain al-Tineh and the Free Patriotic Movement has reignited following Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri’s speech in Tyre and the harsh response from the Free Patriotic Movement. Sources tracking the current political activity described it as "movement without benefit," noting that the rhythm is still controlled by Hezbollah, which has not yet taken any action regarding the presidential and governmental deadlines. The sources observed through "Anbaa" that "the party has not issued any comments so far on the meetings concerning the presidential deadline and remains supportive of the candidacy of former MP Sleiman Frangieh." They anticipated that the political struggle would continue throughout this month, especially after news of delays in maritime border demarcation. Former MP Ali Darwish noted that there has not been any real rapprochement between Presidents Michel Aoun and Najib Mikati that would facilitate government formation, pending the completion of consultations between the two presidents. He stated that the communications that have occurred have helped to break the deadlock in the governmental file but have not yet reached the threshold of formation. However, from a political perspective, there is positive development that can be relied upon in the future.
