Concerns of Stagnation and Presidential Coma: A Senior Official's Dread

A significant fear expressed by a senior official during visits with guests is the potential loss of the electoral entitlement and its results amidst the labyrinth of internal contradictions. The official states that he is not worried about the international stance and acknowledgment of the electoral outcomes, even if they contradict desired results, as the international community has been persistently calling for elections since the onset of the crisis. However, what is concerning is the "factor of time". Lebanon faces serious challenges, the first being the formation of a government, resuming negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, approving the public budget, and addressing some laws related to the reform and rescue process. If these matters do not have a sense of urgency, they risk hitting a wall posed by the presidential entitlement, which is now about five months away. This implies that any delay in addressing and resolving these issues swiftly will inevitably freeze all of them for months beyond the presidential election in October and the formation of the new government in the upcoming presidential term.
