Sources following the government formation file noted that President Mikati is expected to move rapidly after concluding his consultative meetings with parliamentary blocs and independent lawmakers, as he listens to their positions. He is set to finalize the draft of the ministerial lineup, which he will present to President Michel Aoun in a few days for consultation. The anticipated lineup is expected to resemble caretaker governments, as it will be composed of specialists and will not include politicians as some demand. However, several ministers are expected to be changed, specifically the Minister of National Economy, Minister of Displaced Persons, Minister of Energy, Minister of Administrative Development, Minister of Industry, and Minister of Social Affairs. The government's main priorities will include completing negotiations with the IMF, implementing steps to resolve the difficult financial and economic crisis, expediting efforts to revitalize the electricity sector, and addressing the living and daily needs of people.
The sources did not rule out that the President might request the inclusion of the demands from MP Gebran Bassil, head of the Free Patriotic Movement, in the lineup to obstruct the ministerial formation. However, they emphasized that the lineup will be balanced and satisfactory to all. Everyone is aware that the demands recently presented by Bassil are no longer hidden, with MP Salim Aoun revealing some of them yesterday, stating that the bloc wants to ask the designated Prime Minister about the status of Banque du Liban Governor Riad Salameh and what the new government intends to do regarding him.
