Under the title "Deterrent Weapon Race: Washington Returns to Hypersonic Missile Tests," Sky News Arabia reported that the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced on Monday that the United States successfully tested a missile capable of flying at speeds exceeding five times the speed of sound, marking the first successful test of this class of missiles since 2013. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) mentioned in a statement that the free flight test of the "hypersonic" missile took place last week. This class of missiles flies in the upper atmosphere at speeds exceeding Mach 5, or approximately 6,200 kilometers per hour.
