Fadi Abu Shakra, representing fuel distributors, expressed hope for a serious dialogue between the Ministry of Energy and Water, the General Directorate of Oil, and the fuel distributors' unions to reach a solution and prevent the sector from closing and striking. He emphasized that the option of a strike and closure is not desirable, stating: "We extend our hand for dialogue to reach a result as soon as possible so that gas station doors remain open and no problems arise in the sector." He stressed that the primary concern is that citizens should not become hostages to decisions made by the Ministry of Energy and Water.
In an interview with "Al-Anbaa" electronic, Abu Shakra confirmed that "diesel will be available next week, as several ships will arrive to ease the market." He noted that the delay in the arrival of ships to Lebanon was due to high demand for diesel oil in Europe.
In response to a question about fully dollarizing the sector, Abu Shakra clarified that "the decision to dollarize the sector was made by the government, and implementation is taking place in phases; this decision is up to the government." Regarding the possibility of charging for a tank of gasoline in dollars, he responded: "This matter is not yet clear and is being discussed in meetings with concerned parties," assuring that gasoline is available and there is no need for worry or panic.
