This incident prompted the Health Directorate in Basra to issue a statement announcing the initiation of an investigation into the matter. In its statement, it noted: "A video clip circulated on social media showing a deceased newborn waiting for the morgue door to be opened at the Al-Mawaneer Teaching Hospital."
The directorate confirmed that strict preliminary measures would be taken against the primary culprits, and an investigative council would be opened to examine all the reasons that led to this situation, with the aim of addressing negligence and preventing recurrence.
