After becoming a topic of discussion on social media following the spread of her image smoking at Cairo International Stadium during the Olympic team's match against Ghana in the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, Egyptian parliament member Amira El Adly broke her silence.
In a post on her official Facebook account, she confirmed that she is indeed the person in the photo, stating that she received many messages and inquiries about the incident. "I am free in a free world," she said.
She explained that she has been a smoker for a long time and is aware that it is a bad habit, but she does not see it as an issue and has no intention of quitting. She emphasized that the spread of her photo in this manner does not bother her. While she does not recommend smoking to anyone, she enjoys it herself, saying, "I am free in a free world."
She urged those sharing her story and photo to stop what she called "silly talk" and to focus their energies on supporting their national team, which will face Senegal next Sunday, aiming to bring home the eighth African championship in its history.
It is noteworthy that the deputy's photo was widely circulated, accompanied by sarcastic and humorous comments, as she was seen lighting a cigarette in the stands during the match that night.
