Egyptian media reported on Sunday the arrest of a young man who murdered his parents and his sister's two children, and severely injured his sister, using a "cleaver" while they were asleep in a village located in the south of Sohag Governorate. The Director of Sohag Security received a report from the Chief of the Assirat Police Center in the south of the governorate, indicating that a young man had attacked his family with a cleaver, resulting in the deaths of his father, mother, and two children, while causing serious injuries to his sister.
According to the newspaper "Youm7," the suspect was apprehended, and a security cordon was established in the area to follow up on the investigation into the incident. Upon examination and investigations by the Criminal Investigations Department, it was determined that a man in his thirties entered a house located in the area of Awlad Hamza in the Assirat Center carrying a cleaver. He attacked his 70-year-old father, 55-year-old mother, and two children, causing their immediate death.
The young man also assaulted his sister, resulting in severe injuries all over her body. The four deceased were kept at the scene of the incident under the authority of the Public Prosecution until the examination was completed in preparation for their transfer to the central hospital's morgue. The injured sister was transferred to Sohag University Hospital in critical condition for treatment. The suspect and the weapon used in the crime were seized, and preliminary investigations and testimonies from neighbors indicated that the suspect suffers from psychological disturbances, which was corroborated by his wife.
