FC Barcelona took the opportunity to send a congratulatory message to their former captain and Argentine star, Lionel Messi, who currently plays as a forward for Paris Saint-Germain, on his 35th birthday. The official Barcelona account on Twitter posted a video of one of Messi's goals in the "blaugrana" jersey with the caption: "Happy birthday Leo."
It is worth noting that Lionel Messi began his career with Barcelona's first team in 2004, with his contract ending on June 30, 2021. The Catalan club was unable to renew Messi's contract due to financial issues and the salary cap regulations imposed by La Liga, leading him to leave for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
Before announcing his departure from "Camp Nou," Messi confirmed that he had agreed to a 50% pay cut in order to renew his contract with the Catalan club. Messi, who was born on June 24, 1987, in Rosario, Argentina, has won numerous individual and collective titles throughout his successful football career, excelling with both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as internationally with the Argentina national team.
During his time at Barcelona, Messi won a total of 35 titles, including domestic, continental, and global championships, until his departure in August 2021 to PSG, where he won the French Ligue 1 title for the 2021-2022 season.
However, Messi's titles with the Argentine national team are not as numerous as those with Barcelona, having won only four titles with various age groups of the national team, including two with the senior team: the "Copa América 2021" and the "Finalissima 2022," as well as the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2005 and the Olympic gold medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympics.
