The German magazine "Fräulein" pointed out the struggles that many women over the age of forty face in losing weight and getting rid of sagging and excess weight, which leads some of them to fall into the trap of giving up, worsening the issue.
Initially, doctors explained that the reason for this is related to human body nature, where weight loss heavily relies on metabolism, which begins to decline in the mid-thirties and decreases further with aging. Certain diets can cause the body to enter what is known as a "famine emergency program," where the body attempts to utilize every nutrient introduced through food.
Experts also attribute this to a hormonal imbalance that appears in the mid-thirties, particularly between the hormones progesterone and estrogen, which brings about some common problems such as increased bleeding and irregular menstrual cycles. Additionally, some women experience an increase in estrogen at the expense of progesterone, which affects thyroid function, subsequently decreasing metabolic rate and leading to weight gain.
