Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia qualified for the semifinals of the FIFA Club World Cup currently taking place in the UAE after securing a significant 6-1 victory against UAE's Al Jazira on Sunday in the second round of the tournament.
Al Jazira, representing the host nation after winning the UAE league title last season, opened the scoring through Malian player Abdoulaye Diaby in the 14th minute. Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo equalized for Al Hilal in the 36th minute, before Brazilian Matheus Pereira scored the second goal in the 40th minute.
In the second half, Al Hilal maintained dominance in the match, with Mohammed Kanno and Salem Al-Dawsari scoring the team's third and fourth goals in the 57th and 77th minutes, respectively. Malian forward Moussa Marega added the fifth goal for Al Hilal in the 88th minute, while Andre Carrillo scored the sixth goal in the second minute of stoppage time from a penalty.
With this victory, Al Hilal, participating in the tournament for the second time in its history after winning the AFC Champions League last year, is set to face Chelsea, the reigning UEFA Champions League champion, in the semifinals of the World Cup next Wednesday.
