Former Liverpool Star Attacks Ronaldo: He Made the Team Worse!

Former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher believes that Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo should have informed his team Manchester United of his desire to leave at the end of the season, instead of causing controversy this July. Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford last year after enjoying a remarkable career in 12 seasons with Real Madrid and Juventus, but reports have surfaced that the 37-year-old star wants to leave the club again.

The British newspaper "The Times" reported that the Portuguese star is seeking to play in the Champions League, which cannot happen with Manchester United, who finished last season in sixth place in the Premier League.

Carragher sparked controversy with former Manchester United captain Gary Neville on Twitter when he wrote: "Ronaldo did exactly what I thought he would do, he scored goals but made the team worse; his transfer request completely undermines the idea that he rejected Manchester City's offer because of his love for Manchester United."

Carragher's comments angered Neville, who said: "I understand, but he rejected City because of his love for Manchester United; he can do that while wanting to leave this summer. He left before but still loves the club, enjoy Saturday night and your brief spell of success."

Carragher responded: "City didn’t want him, you clown, and you’re the same person who said it was like Elvis coming to Manchester; Elvis has left the building." He added: "Why now specifically? Did Erik ten Hag tell him he is not in his plans or will have a limited role? He should have done that at the end of last season; that’s the right thing for the club."

Ronaldo scored 24 goals in all competitions last season, including 18 in the Premier League.
