Decisions from the Ministry of Economy Regarding Bread

The following statement was issued by the media office of the Minister of Economy and Trade, Amin Salam: In light of the government's continued support for imported wheat intended for flour that mills import through the Central Bank at a rate of 100%, and since the priority of support necessitates limiting it to bread, and in order to preserve food security, Minister of Economy and Trade Amin Salam has issued two decisions. The first stipulates that the production of wheat flour is to be limited to the unified class 85 intended for Lebanese bread. The second decision prohibits bakeries from delivering or selling Lebanese bread to local or foreign associations and institutions of any kind without prior submission to the Ministry of Economy and Trade for review and potential approval, with exceptions for agreements made with the Lebanese Army and security forces.
