Experts say that there are two specific types of foods that should be avoided if a person wants to lose weight and achieve a slim body. The British website "Wales Online" noted that the first food to avoid is sugar, adding that this is not surprising given that we consume a lot of sugars in our daily meals (about 700 grams per week per person). The National Health Service states that the types of sugars consumed by most adults and children in the UK are "free sugars," which do not benefit the body in any way. The agency advises that adults should not exceed 30 grams of sugars per day (approximately 7 sugar cubes), while children aged 7 to 10 years should not consume more than 24 grams of sugars daily.
The second type of food to avoid, according to "Wales Online," is complex carbohydrates, specifically starches. This type of carbohydrate can be found in potatoes, bread, rice, pasta, and cereals. All of these foods provide a good source of energy and should make up just over one-third of the food we consume, according to the National Health Service. It added: "If these starches make up more than one-third of your diet, it is likely that you are consuming too much food that does not benefit your body."
