Sanctions Extended to Russian Scientists: Details Inside

The British newspaper "Financial Times" reported that a scientific institution in the United Kingdom has suspended grant payments for projects involving Russian scientists. The UK Research and Innovation agency announced the halt of grants for projects linked to Russian scholars. The decision came from the government funding agency for research in UK universities.

The institution stated in an email, "While we await advice from the UK government, we will temporarily suspend all grant payments with Russian partners." The "Financial Times" highlighted that this action will affect around 50 grants for projects at British universities, amounting to tens of millions of pounds.

The report added, "This decision follows informal consultations with the government regarding the impact of sanctions related to Russia on research projects." It is expected that the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy will issue further official guidance next week for British universities working with scientists in Russia.
