Women's Orchestra at Expo Dubai Featuring 50 Musicians from 23 Countries

On Thursday, the opening events of Expo 2020 Dubai will kick off, which is considered the largest cultural gathering in the world. "Expo 2020 Dubai" has released an exclusive video showcasing for the first time the performance of the Firdaus Orchestra, spotlighting the talent and creativity of this leading women’s ensemble under the direction of Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman. The behind-the-scenes footage highlights the artistic skill of fifty female musicians from around the world as they prepare for their debut performance, featuring a blend of styles and musical genres at Expo 2020 Dubai. Starting from October 23, upcoming concerts will also include works composed by A.R. Rahman for the orchestra’s inaugural performances on the global expo stage.

Celebrating the region's culture and diversity, the Firdaus Orchestra, newly appointed under conductor Yasmina Sabbah, consists of musicians ranging from amateur to semi-professional levels, representing 23 different nationalities and ages between 16 and 51 years, demonstrating that music is accessible to everyone and for everyone. Expo Dubai features 192 country pavilions from around the world, up to 60 events and activities daily, alongside more than 200 food and beverage outlets and exciting activities each day for a duration of 182 days.
