Samsung has launched its cheapest 5G smartphone in India, the Galaxy M42 5G. This device is a renewed version of the Galaxy A42 5G, which was globally released in October 2020, with changes reflecting an increase in RAM capacity. The phone is equipped with a Snapdragon 750G SoC and features a quad-camera setup on the back with a main 48-megapixel lens. Samsung has armed the device with Samsung Knox security and it has a waterdrop notch on the front, supporting NFC technology, enabling Samsung Pay as well.
The Galaxy M42 5G boasts a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with +HD resolution. It comes with up to 8GB of RAM and internal storage options up to 128GB, expandable up to 1TB via a microSD card slot.
The back of the phone houses a quad-camera setup featuring a primary 48-megapixel ISOCELL GM2 sensor alongside an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 5-megapixel macro sensor, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. The Galaxy M42 5G camera is equipped with features such as Single Take, Night Mode, Hyperlapse, Super Slow Motion, Scene Optimiser, and Flaw Detection. On the front, there is a 20-megapixel camera.
The Galaxy M42 5G is powered by a 5000mAh battery that supports 15W fast charging. The device offers 36 hours of talk time, 22 hours of internet browsing, and 34 hours of video playback on a single charge, featuring Samsung Knox and Samsung Pay security. The phone is available in black and gray colors, with sales starting on May 1st, priced at $295 for the 6GB/128GB variant and $322 for the 8GB/128GB variant.
