Snapchat Acquires Exclusive Social Game from Zynga

Zynga, the giant mobile gaming company, has announced that it will soon introduce a multiplayer social deception game called ReVamp to the Snapchat gaming platform. ReVamp, clearly inspired by the popularity of games like Among Us, is a real-time multiplayer game where players attempt to identify a vampire among their friends. According to Zynga's description, players in ReVamp aim to uncover a vampire player from their group of friends while renovating the rooms of an old mansion. The game also features a voting round where players decide to remove those they suspect are impostors. As team members focus on demolition and construction, the vampires must avoid suspicion while selecting human players as they complete fake tasks around the house.

This is the third game released by Zynga for the Snapchat gaming platform. Given the huge success of Among Us, it seems poised to become popular on Snapchat’s growing gaming platform. The first game was Bumped Out, a small car game where players control customizable vehicles and compete using BitMoji avatars. This was followed by the multiplayer shooting game Tiny Royale. Snapchat first introduced Snap Games to the Snapchat app in 2019, featuring both original titles and third-party games such as BitMoji Party and Zombie Escape. Since then, Snap has offered various other engaging multiplayer games and collaborated with other developers. The experience seems to be successful so far; Snap reported in May that its Snap Games platform reached over 200 million players in the past two years, up from about 100 million a year ago. These 200 million players have engaged with the games and applications known as minis on the platform. Furthermore, around 30 million users play Snap Games every month. Overall, the platform has reached over 500 million monthly active users. Zynga stated, “We are excited to continue our partnership with Snap to create new fun games that seamlessly fit the social mechanics of its platform. ReVamp reimagines the social deception game genre for players of all skill levels, including humans and vampires.”
