Call for Judges to Endure... Even at a Minimum Level

The Supreme Judicial Council issued the following statement: The Supreme Judicial Council, which shares the suffering and extraordinary and difficult conditions on all levels with the judges of Lebanon in particular, and with the Lebanese in general, appreciates the efforts made to ensure the continuity of judicial work by judges who have chosen to exert more than what is possible in honor of their oath, along with judicial assistants who are fulfilling their duties amidst an unprecedented economic, financial, and living crisis. Therefore, it requests them, based on the vision and aspirations of the Lebanese people whom they serve, to continue this judicial and institutional endurance, even at its minimum level, which compels them to confront challenges and difficulties that are sometimes impossible to overcome. The Supreme Judicial Council promises to continue all efforts and communications that it has undertaken and is undertaking, whether with the legislative and executive authorities or with Arab and international organizations and entities, to secure the components of this judicial and institutional endurance. Finally, the Supreme Judicial Council, out of concern for the supreme national interest, urges the legislative and executive authorities to take into account the reality of the situation and the potential results that could arise, which calls for reflection and insight.
