Under the title "After Vaccination: This Is What Vaccinated Individuals Feel if They Contract COVID-19," the Al Arabiya website reported that despite the rush of governments and people to get vaccinated against COVID-19, traditional symptoms still persist for vaccinated individuals who contract the virus, though the order of symptoms may differ based on whether they received one or two doses. Individuals who have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are still less likely to suffer severe illness or death from the virus, but they can still experience fatigue if infected.
**Some Differences**
Common symptoms associated with COVID-19 include fever, persistent cough, and loss or change of smell and taste. However, a study on symptoms conducted by the health science company "Zoe," utilizing analysis from King’s College London along with contributions from over 4 million people worldwide, found some differences in how individuals are affected by the virus after receiving one or two doses of the vaccine. Researchers stated, according to the Independent, that "overall, we observed similar COVID-like symptoms reported by vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals,” while noting that “fewer symptoms were reported over a shorter period of time by vaccinated individuals, indicating they were at lower risk and improved more quickly."
**Cold-like Symptoms**
The top four symptoms reported by contributors to the "Zoe COVID" study were headache, runny nose, sneezing, and sore throat—traits commonly associated with colds. According to the recent "Zoe" study published in late June, fully vaccinated individuals are now more likely to report sneezing, while traditional symptoms, as outlined on the UK government website, such as loss of smell, shortness of breath, and fever, were found lower on the list. The most reported symptoms for those who received one vaccination dose were headache, runny nose, sore throat, and sneezing. In contrast, the list of symptoms for unvaccinated individuals included, in order: headache, sore throat, runny nose, fever, and persistent cough. Additionally, cough is no longer the top indicator of virus infection for those fully vaccinated.
