Russian Foreign Ministry Responds to Zelensky's Statement on U.S. Rocket Launchers

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that it is impossible and futile to discuss Vladimir Zelensky's promises not to use American HIMARS rocket launchers to strike Russian targets. This came during her live conversation with the famous Russian broadcaster Vladimir Solovyov on his daily program "Solovyov Live" on Thursday morning, where she emphasized the need for real data.

U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary Colin Kahl stated yesterday that the new package of American aid to Ukraine includes four long-range HIMARS rocket systems capable of hitting targets up to 80 kilometers away. He also said that the United States received a promise from Ukrainian authorities, including President Zelensky himself, not to use these systems to strike targets in Russia.

Zakharova continued by saying that at the end of last year, "Russia demanded written security guarantees, as no one relies on any statements from Zelensky or any Western leaders anymore. Their words carry no weight, and they are not significant, so it is not possible to discuss any promises or words in that context, especially those from Zelensky."

She added: "There must be real data and a real understanding of what is happening on the ground, and a similar reaction to our power block." Additionally, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov stated to the "Novosti" agency that Moscow views the new package of U.S. aid to Ukraine, which includes HIMARS systems, very negatively.
