From the Land of Windmills: A Super Electric Car That Needs Charging Only Once a Month

A Dutch company has introduced a groundbreaking electric car with a super battery that can run for up to an entire month without needing a recharge, potentially alleviating many concerns of electric vehicle users. This innovation could spark a revolution in a market that is rapidly gaining global traction.

The Dutch company "Lightyear" revealed on its website that it is currently producing two electric cars utilizing cutting-edge technology with charging that lasts a full month or more without needing to plug it in.

The company states that the first model, named "Lightyear One," is already available in the market. This electric car can also convert solar energy into electricity through five square meters of solar panels integrated into its exterior. The company notes that these panels can generate enough charge during just one hour of sunlight to allow the car to travel up to 12 kilometers, with a range of 725 kilometers when fully charged.

According to information obtained by "Arabia Net" from the manufacturer’s website, the car is priced at $170,000 and is currently available. However, the company is also working on another vehicle named "Lightyear Two," which will be more economically priced but will feature less charging capability while operating on both solar and electric power.

The manufacturer announced that this second vehicle will be unveiled in the fourth quarter of 2024, with a price tag of $33,779. The specific charging capability has yet to be disclosed, but it is expected to have at least 40% less charging capacity than the first car. The company also mentions that the second vehicle, set to be released in two years, will have significantly faster charging times compared to the current "Lightyear One" because of its smaller battery size. Nevertheless, a key advantage of these new cars is that they will be much quicker than any traditional electric vehicle.

According to the company's official website, "Lightyear" is committed to developing long-range electric vehicles powered by solar energy based on a holistic design philosophy. The company asserts that "efficiency is at the core of everything we do," emphasizing the optimization of their proprietary technology included in essential components such as the powertrain and thermal management system, along with the solar roof.
