Title: Cameroonian Defender Joel Matip to Miss Rest of Season for Liverpool Due to Injury

Cameroonian defender Joel Matip of Liverpool Football Club sustained an injury while attempting to stop Tottenham's South Korean striker Son Heung-min during the first half of the match that ended with Liverpool winning 3-1 in London last Thursday.

Liverpool’s head coach, Jürgen Klopp, announced that Matip will be out for the remainder of the current season due to an ankle ligament injury. A thorough diagnosis revealed that Matip will not be able to play any more matches this season. Klopp told "Liverpoolfc.com" regarding Matip's diagnosis: “Unfortunately, we have now found out after all specialists have looked at the injury that Joel will miss the rest of the season. But he will be ready for the preparation for next season, and in the end everything will be arranged.”

Klopp praised the efforts of the number 32 jersey wearer, who played in the Tottenham match while injured and sacrificed for the team, adding: “The injury of our main defender Joe Gomez has always made us rely on Matip whenever he was able to play. He was really unfortunate because it was a great challenge he actually made; he saved us at that moment in the Tottenham game when he made the intervention against Son. But he injured his ankle and played the match injured and now he will be out for the rest of the season, so you can imagine how hard he tried to stay on the pitch and help us. We will wait for him; he has now what is left of this season, then the summer, then the preparation, and he will be ready again.”

It is worth mentioning that defender Joel Matip joins his defensive teammates who will be out for an extended period due to injury, including Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk. However, Klopp’s defensive options have been bolstered by the arrivals of Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak, just before the winter transfer window closed yesterday Monday.
