The Russian Embassy in Beirut issued a statement saying: "On February 24, the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants released a statement condemning what it described as the 'invasion of Ukrainian territories' and called on Russia to 'immediately cease military operations, withdraw its forces, and return to dialogue and negotiation as the best means to resolve the conflict.' The statement from the Lebanese Foreign Ministry astonished us for violating the policy of neutrality and taking a side against another in these events, bearing in mind that Russia has spared no effort in contributing to the revival and stability of the Lebanese Republic. In this regard, we declare that the basis of Russia's policy is not to encroach upon Ukrainian interests, but to preserve Russian national security due to the threats posed by the Kyiv government, which has evaded the implementation of numerous agreements, particularly the Minsk agreements." Additionally, Russia did not wage war, but rather it is a special operation aimed at protecting Russian citizens based on the request of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics, following Russia's recognition of their independence. We affirm that Russia always strives to establish peace, enhance security, and combat all forms of hostility, and that every state has the right to protect its national security, including the protection of its citizens.
