The book "Peril" by journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa continues to unveil more details about the era of former U.S. President Donald Trump. It has been revealed that Trump asked his predecessor Barack Obama about the biggest mistakes he made while in office. This incident took place in January 2017, specifically on the day of Trump's inauguration as President of the United States, when he began that day by boarding the presidential helicopter "Marine One" for the first time, which transported him from Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida to Washington, D.C.
According to Woodward and Costa, Obama and Trump rode in the presidential car from the White House to the Capitol building, accompanied by Senator Roy Blunt, who was responsible for planning the inauguration ceremony. In the car, Trump asked Obama, "What is the biggest mistake you made?" Obama looked at the then-president-elect for a moment and responded, "I cannot think of anything." Trump then changed the subject and asked, "Is this the car you use all the time?"
Trump did not miss an opportunity to criticize Obama, both during his presidency and even after he left the White House. It seems that Obama avoided answering this question to prevent giving Trump ammunition to use against him later. The book "Peril" also discusses the later stages of Trump's presidency, including the election campaign and the day of the Capitol building breach, and reveals details about U.S. Army Chief General Mark Milley's secret communications with his Chinese counterpart. The book states that Milley contacted his Chinese counterpart twice to reassure them about concerns that Donald Trump, then the President, might ignite a war with China. The book relied on over 200 sources, most of which remained anonymous throughout the text, according to the American news network Fox News.
