Ghazl El-Mahalla Hands Zamalek First Defeat in Egyptian Premier League

Zamalek faced its first defeat in the Egyptian Premier League this season at the hands of Ghazl El-Mahalla, with a score of 2-1. Zamalek took the lead in the 69th minute through their Tunisian player Ferjani Sassi, but El-Mahalla equalized in the 77th minute with a goal from Abdou Yahia. Sassi was sent off in the 86th minute, and El-Mahalla secured the winning goal through Khaled El-Ekhmeimy in the fifth minute of stoppage time (90+5).

This victory marked a long-awaited win for El-Mahalla against Zamalek, with their last victory dating back to February 5, 2009, when they won 1-0 with a goal from Mahmoud Al-Atrawy. With this result, Zamalek, under the management of Portuguese coach Jaime Pacheco, remains at the top of the standings with 23 points, while El-Mahalla, led by coach Khaled Eid, raised their tally to 11 points, sitting in 10th place.
