After Modah and Hanin: The Arrest of the New

Egyptian security forces arrested Mocha Hegazi, widely known as the "TikTok Girl," on Thursday after several lawyers filed complaints against her, accusing her of broadcasting "obscene" videos. Lawyer Ashraf Farhat, who submitted the complaint, revealed the details of the arrest, stating that Mocha Hegazi was apprehended inside her apartment in Cairo.

In a conversation with "Sky News Arabia," Farhat mentioned that the girl "is trying to tamper with the values and principles of the Egyptian people, spreading offensive videos and images on her TikTok account," prompting him to file the complaint.

Farhat, founder of the "Purification of Society" campaign, lodged a complaint with the Attorney General Counselor Hamada El-Sawy, under number 82671 against Hegazi, accusing her of "promoting immorality and debauchery." He called for the swift apprehension of Mocha and for her to be brought in for questioning and expedited prosecution "for her actions that violate public morals and incite immorality and debauchery through broadcasting videos with sexual implications and wearing revealing clothing, using the TikTok application and her private YouTube channel."

He added that she violated Article 278 of the Penal Code, which states that anyone who publicly commits an act that is obscene and disrupts public decency shall be punished by imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year or a fine not exceeding 300 Egyptian pounds, according to Articles 25 and 26 of the Cybercrimes Law.

Farhat explained in his complaint that the girl "displays her body in her videos and makes sexual gestures with her face," noting that "the law aims to criminalize publicly obscene acts that disrupt decency to protect the general sense of modesty and preserve the public's feelings from being offended by viewing indecent scenes or sexual imagery that violates public morals."
