The administrative body of the Public Administration Employees Association announced in a statement the "continuation of the open strike until a minimum acceptable level of their rights and basic needs is achieved." The statement reads: "Having exhausted all explanations and clarifications regarding our rights, much of which we have conceded, we accepted the least we could for the continuation of our lives and work, and to reclaim our identity as citizens. After nearly three weeks of the open strike of public administration employees, and since what was issued from the meeting at the Grand Serail yesterday regarding our rights barely touches the minimal aspect of the serious problem—barely equivalent to an aspirin for a chronic illness.
The employees and their suffering and rights are in one valley, while the government is in another. In contrast to our insistence on living, there is an insistence from the state to bury us alive, and not to recover its wasted funds, while insisting on charging employees the cost of what is granted and what is pilfered from the state treasury, instead of recovering it. The association's administrative body calls upon the esteemed MPs to play their role in ending the massacre committed against employees, and announces the continuation of the open strike until the minimum acceptable level of their rights and basic needs is achieved, represented by:
- Health coverage for medical treatment, hospitalization, and medication, after this coverage was secured in fresh dollars for decision-makers.
- Correction of salaries, wages, pensions, and redundancy compensation according to what we have offered as concessions up to a quarter of our salary value (calculated on the banking dollar platform at 8,000 lira), while we spend based on the black market rate.
- Provision of gasoline coupons calculated based on the distances each employee travels.
These are the simplest rights of our children and families, the simplest components for living with dignity, and the simplest human rights; we are not in the process of misappropriating them."
