While some critics argued that Rahaf Al-Qahtani does not deserve such recognition and position, one critic stated, "If she were a doctor, a cultural figure, or a scientist, it could have been accepted, but her sitting at the head of the council is shameful, truly shameful."
In contrast, many followers defended Rahaf Al-Qahtani, asserting that she would not have faced such backlash and ridicule if she were a foreigner. She sent a message to her critics, emphasizing that it would have been more appropriate to support anything that enhances the status of Saudi women rather than criticize her. Additionally, she expressed her dissatisfaction with the attacks on the men who accompanied her in the council, questioning, "Why did you attack them everywhere? A woman is only valued by a capable man; if they were not men, they would not have recognized me or placed me at the head of the council."
