The Minister of Education and Higher Education, Abbas Halabi, issued a circular directed to all officials in secondary schools, schools, and public institutes regarding their closure and the use of some of their buildings as polling centers for the parliamentary elections. The decision stated: "Since the general parliamentary elections for the year 2022 will take place on Sunday, 15/5/2022, and since the voting for employees assigned as heads of polling stations and writers will take place on Thursday, 12/5/2022, in the designated polling stations in the districts, and since secondary schools, schools, and public institutes have been chosen to serve as polling centers for these elections throughout Lebanon, to be received by the polling authority and security forces on Saturday, 14/5/2022, and thus the continued need for these buildings on Monday, 16/5/2022, following the elections to carry out cleaning and preparation work for the resumption of teaching, and given that the majority of educational staff (permanent and contracted under various titles) are tasked with election duties as mentioned, and to ensure the smooth functioning of schools, secondary schools, and public technical institutes throughout the election period, it is therefore requested from the officials of secondary schools, schools, and public institutes to comply with the following:
