The "Qarari" Association is organizing its 10-kilometer running race in Jounieh, under the patronage of the Lebanese Athletics Federation, in collaboration with the Municipality of Jounieh and the American University of Science and Technology. The race will take place on May 29 and will also feature a fun 5-kilometer race to encourage as many running enthusiasts, families, and children to participate as possible, especially since the proceeds from this race will go to the "Tamanna" Association, which works to fulfill the dreams of children suffering from serious illnesses.
Both races provide a celebratory opportunity for sports lovers, particularly the runners affiliated with Lebanese clubs, as they will benefit from the fast race course to challenge themselves and improve their times in the longer distance. The event will be accompanied by many recreational activities, which the association has been preparing for months through training programs for runner groups under the supervision of specialized coaches in Beirut, Dhour Shweir, Aley, and Jounieh. Notably, the "Run to Rise" initiative has established three free weekly training sessions for all runners of various ages to ensure they are fully prepared for the upcoming race.
Registration for the race continues through all Malik’s branches in Lebanon and via the website ihjoz.com, closing on the 17th of this month. Each participant will receive their own number, a commemorative medal, personal photos from their participation, breakfast, in addition to trophies for the first-place winners.
Sawsan Khnar, President of the "Qarari" Association, stated: "This race marks a new stage in the history of the association, as we aim to play an essential role in helping this community where conditions are becoming increasingly difficult." She added: "The upcoming race represents a qualitative leap regarding the races we have organized in recent years, and it also contributes to promoting the running culture that we have started to strongly feel in Lebanon, as evidenced by the large turnout of runners who want to participate in the upcoming race, requesting us to increase the number of races throughout the year, which is something we are working on as circumstances allow."
She concluded: "I invite everyone to join us on May 29 by participating in the race, especially since the 'Tamanna' Association means a lot to us as it aligns with our goal of turning tears into smiles for every child facing a difficult health issue."
