Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz, the former manager of the Egypt national football team, stated that he has not received any offer to return to lead the "Pharaohs," and pointed out that he has yet to receive his full dues. Queiroz spoke to "FilGoal.com," saying, "The Egyptian Football Association has not presented me with an offer so far." He emphasized, "I do not know anything about this matter."
Queiroz revealed, "I have not yet received my full dues from the Football Association, despite having left the Egypt national team three months ago." The Portuguese coach departed from his role after failing to qualify for the "Qatar 2022" World Cup following a defeat against Senegal in a penalty shootout.
During his tenure, Queiroz managed the Egypt national team in 20 matches, winning 13, losing five, and drawing twice. He also led the team to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations "Cameroon 2021," where they lost to Senegal in another penalty shootout.
Regarding the outstanding payments to Queiroz, his assistant in the Egypt team, Roger de Sa, confirmed that he has only received 15% of his dues so far. De Sa stated in an interview with "FilGoal.com," "This is the percentage that I have received in my bank account." He added jokingly, "I will wait for clarification from the bank regarding the remaining amount."
A source from the Egyptian Football Association previously mentioned to "FilGoal.com," "Firstly, there are no overdue salaries for the former coaching staff of the Egypt national team. All assistants have received their salaries, except for Carlos Queiroz, who is owed one month’s salary."
The source also explained that what is currently disbursed by the Football Association are bonuses for each stage of the Africa Cup of Nations 2021, not salaries. "About a week ago, the Football Association disbursed the Round of 16 bonus for the Egyptian individuals in Queiroz's staff, and this is what Queiroz received."
The source continued, "During one of the negotiation sessions with Queiroz, he conditioned that the overdue bonuses for the foreign assistants also be paid in order to continue negotiations about returning to coach the Egypt national team." He added, "Indeed, the Football Association has disbursed the Round of 16 bonuses for both Egyptian and foreign assistants, with the remaining stages of the tournament (quarterfinals and semifinals) still pending."
Hazem Imam, a member of the Board of the Egyptian Football Association, spoke on the "On Time Sports 1" channel, saying, "The list of candidates for the Egypt national team coach includes only a few names." He added, "Regarding what is being said about Carlos Queiroz, there are no financial issues or conditions raised." He further stated, "We are also working on other names besides Queiroz."
