The Russian Minister of Sports, Oleg Matytsin, stated during a roundtable discussion on import substitution in the field of sports that it is essential to find solutions and reduce risks in the supply of sports equipment in general. According to the Russian news agency "TASS," Matytsin said, "Sports and industry are interconnected today. We prioritize the issue of import substitution. I am confident that we will find a solution."
The Russian Sports Minister emphasized the need to find solutions and minimize risks, noting that one should not immediately reject the opportunity to maintain the supply of certain sports equipment through parallel channels. He concluded: "I am sure that the Ministry of Sports will find the right solution in the near future. There is significant pressure and strict sanctions; we need to find the correct solution and identify legislative initiatives, the law. We must take steps that allow us to emerge from the crisis."
It is worth mentioning that the International Olympic Committee has recommended that international sports organizations prevent athletes from Russia and Belarus from participating in competitions. Earlier, Dmitry Svishchev, head of the State Duma Committee on Sports and Physical Education, described import substitution as the most important task for the development of sports in Russia.
