British Embassy: Colard Confirmed Continuous Support for the Lebanese Army from Naqoura

The British Embassy in Lebanon stated in a release that "Ambassador Dr. Ian Colard and the military attaché at the embassy, Colonel Lee Saunders, visited yesterday the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) headquarters in Naqoura, southern Lebanon, and the mission's area of operations along the Blue Line. Ambassador Colard was briefed on UNIFIL’s work, especially along the Blue Line and the challenges it currently faces. He was also informed about the operations of the Lebanese Army to maintain stability in southern Lebanon. The head of UNIFIL and its Force Commander, Major General Aruldo Latharo, received Ambassador Colard in his office, and they discussed matters related to UNIFIL's operations."

After the visit, Colard said, "I am pleased to visit the UNIFIL headquarters in Naqoura and see the Blue Line. I reiterated during my meetings the UK's ongoing support for the Lebanese Army, which is essential for the stability of Lebanon as the sole legitimate defender of the country. I conveyed the UK's strong commitment to a stable and secure Lebanon, respect for Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 1701, and condemned all violations. At the end of my visit, I thanked UNIFIL forces, which play a crucial role in maintaining the cessation of hostilities, calming tensions in the UNIFIL area of operations, and ensuring stability along the Blue Line."
