Saudi Arabia Loses a Brave Pilot: Who Was the Prince on Board the F15 Fighter Jet?

The Saudi Royal Court issued the following statement today, Thursday: "Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has passed away, and the funeral prayer will be held tomorrow, Friday, 24th of Safar, 1445, after Asr prayer at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh."

According to news circulating on Saudi social media, the late prince was on board the F15 aircraft, which crashed at noon during a routine training mission at King Abdulaziz Air Base in Dhahran. The late Prince Talal bin Bandar was a pilot officer with the rank of Major. His father is Prince Abdulaziz bin Bandar Saud, Deputy Head of General Intelligence, and his mother is Princess Najla bint Saad bin Muhammad Al Saud.

The official account of Saudi Arabian Airlines announced his passing, attributing the cause of death to the crash of "his fighter jet during a routine training mission." According to Wikipedia, Prince Talal was from the ruling family, born and raised in Saudi Arabia, where he also received his education. He joined the Saudi military and continued his studies until he graduated with the rank of Major Pilot. Recently, he held the position of Commander of the Royal Saudi Air Force Group, and his professional record is filled with military achievements and accomplishments.

Throughout his professional career, Prince Talal proved his competence, with significant achievements including: receiving the Sword of Honor from His Royal Highness Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense and Aviation. He also received four commendation awards for his military and academic excellence from the Inspector General.
