Some entertainment websites reported that the artist Mohamed Ramadan was assaulted by a group of young men he encountered on the road in Cairo while on his way to the filming location of his new Ramadan series "Moussa."
According to the reports, the young men shouted insults at Ramadan, with one referring to him as "Zionist" due to the circulation of photos of him with Israeli celebrities and artists. Despite the backlash, he resumed his work afterward. Ramadan confronted his attackers to admonish them for their harsh insults and tapped on their car. One of the young men then descended from the vehicle and delivered hard blows to his face, causing him to fall to the ground. Ramadan has neither confirmed nor denied these reports, which places them in the realm of rumors.
The Emirati activist Hamad Al-Mazrouei had shared a photo of Ramadan alongside Israeli singer Omer Adam in the UAE. This photo went viral on social media platforms, exposing Ramadan to waves of criticism. Moreover, Ashraf Zaki, the head of the Actors' Syndicate in Egypt, issued a decision to suspend Mohamed Ramadan from work and cancel his new series.
In his defense, Ramadan stated: "We are all humans, and I cannot ask anyone who wants to take a picture with me about their nationality, color, or appearance." He continued, "We are all one, created by the One God... I don’t know who I’m taking pictures with, and my audience knows that; I trust in God for success." He also shared a picture of the Palestinian flag on his page, expressing his love and respect for that nation and his rejection of the Israeli occupation.
