Tips for Foot Care in Summer

Wearing open shoes during the summer requires that your feet look beautiful, reflecting good care. The beauty portal "Haut.de" from Germany explains that a foot bath is the first step in foot care, as it helps to soften the skin and nails, preparing the feet for the next steps. For this purpose, fill a small basin with warm water and add foot care products, such as a vegetable oil that has moisturizing effects and makes the feet soft. It is important to soak the feet for no more than about 5 minutes to avoid excessive softening, which could have the opposite effect.

The next step involves removing the hardened skin using designated foot care tools, such as a pumice stone or a quartz metal file, but care should be taken not to overdo it, as this skin plays an important role in protecting the underlying tissues from inflammation that may result from pressure, friction, or heat. Additionally, the nails should be kept short and not extend beyond the toes to avoid discomfort, especially when wearing closed shoes. The nails should be trimmed straight across, and the file should not be used at the corners at all, as this can cause the nails to grow inward, increasing the risk of nail infections.

After trimming, a file should be used on the edges of the nails until they are smooth and less prone to breaking, then gently remove excess skin around the nail edges using a dedicated wooden file. In the final step, the feet should be moisturized, as a cream designed for feet cares for tired skin and helps provide the necessary care nutrients. Creams containing urea work well to combat rough areas, thus preventing the formation of hardened skin.
