A Taliban official stated on Saturday that the movement's militants in Afghanistan have not kidnapped any foreigners recently, but confirmed what he described as "questioning" some of them before leaving the country. The source explained that the movement will form two separate teams, one for managing internal security and the other to handle the financial crisis.
The Taliban recently took control of the Afghan capital, Kabul, capitalizing on the vacuum left by the U.S. military withdrawal. World capitals are closely monitoring the Taliban's behavior to see whether the movement will exercise power in a moderate manner or revert to its previous state from twenty years ago, especially concerning human rights.
Earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden confirmed that his country is communicating with the Taliban to ensure the safe passage of civilians to Kabul Airport.
#### Talks to Form a Government
On Saturday, the head of the Taliban's political office, Abdul Ghani Baradar, arrived in Kabul to conduct talks with movement leaders and other politicians about forming a new government in Afghanistan.
Agence France-Presse reported a senior Taliban leader saying that Baradar "is attending meetings with leaders and politicians to form an inclusive government." A Taliban official also stated to Reuters earlier on Saturday that the movement "aims to present a framework for a new government for Afghanistan in the coming weeks."
The official added that the "new Taliban model of governance in Afghanistan may not be democratically defined in the precise Western sense, but it will protect the rights of all."
Regarding the situation at Kabul Airport, the official stated: "The chaos at Kabul Airport was not caused by the Taliban, and the West could have arranged a better evacuation plan." He emphasized that the Taliban "will investigate the law and order issues caused by some members after learning of certain atrocities and crimes against civilians." He asserted that the movement is discussing how to ensure the exit of Western powers from Afghanistan under friendly terms.
