The European Union considers Expo 2020 Dubai as a perfect opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to international cooperation and multilateralism in response to global challenges, and to build a mutual understanding of how to address these challenges. This was confirmed by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, in a statement where he said, "In times of difficult challenges, our societies need to work together, not only to overcome them but also to become stronger together and collaborate better."
The EU's statement noted that it will participate through a range of events and activities to showcase the European contribution to addressing global challenges in alignment with the main themes of Expo 2020, which are sustainability, opportunity, and mobility. EU institutions are organizing more than 40 events and sessions to highlight European efforts to tackle global challenges within the framework of the exhibition's core themes.
The "EU Honor Day," which will take place on October 23, will be an occasion to celebrate the EU's participation in Expo 2020 Dubai alongside its member states through cultural activities featuring young artists and cultural professionals from Europe and other parts of the world to promote diversity and intercultural dialogue. Expo 2020 Dubai opened its doors on Friday to welcome visitors from around the world, marking the largest event since the beginning of the pandemic, gathering over 190 countries, and will run until March 2022.
