Samir Geagea, the head of the Lebanese Forces party, revealed that the "Forces" will reject any candidate allied with "Hezbollah" for the premiership and will commit to boycotting the government if a new consensus government is formed. He stated, "If it's a government like usual with everyone, of course, we will not agree and will not participate." In an interview with "Reuters," Geagea suggested that "Hezbollah should not be too happy," adding that the divisions in parliament will lead to a "major confrontation" between "Hezbollah" and its allies on one side and the Lebanese Forces party on the other.
Regarding cooperation with civil society lawmakers, Geagea said, "We all need each other in order to initiate the necessary change and rescue process." He refused to disclose whether the Lebanese Forces would support a new term for the current Prime Minister and front-running candidate Najib Mikati, or if his party would endorse a different name. As for the presidential elections, Geagea confirmed that his party is against any presidential candidate supported by "Hezbollah" this time.
